Madrona engages the community in art, education, and cultural experiences toward wellness across all beings, inclusive of our shared planet.
Community Gatherings
Madrona aims to serve the broader community through gatherings that restore a sense of inclusive belonging and soulful, eco-centric, collective well-being.
Community gatherings will take the form of rituals, talks, workshops and nature immersions, taking place along the Wasatch Front and in the desert nestled between Capitol Reef and Escalante in Utah.
Artist Programming
Given our emphasis on art as an opening into soul, Madrona will actively nurture a community for soul work for those pursuing art as their purpose.
An artist residency program will become an ongoing core program of the desert sanctuary once established, with an initial apprenticeship with soul to serve local artist cohorts who can commute from their homes on the Wasatch Front.
Additional stand-alone workshops will support the artist community in working with soul and also introduce the general community to the artist within us all.
Collective Art+Soul Encounters
In serving the entire community, Madrona will be curating opportunities for public encounters with soul.
As a physical manifestation, Madrona will coordinate with wild and urban nature spaces in collaboration with local artists to install permanent and time-limited soul encounters where community members can experience the confluence of art, soul and nature. Imagine stumbling upon a circle of stones under an overhanging tree adorned with chimes while on a walk in your local park, or finding a sculpture utilizing nature’s own materials to create a tree of life meditation space while hiking a local trail.
Online, Madrona will host space for collective creativity, such as through our initial communal poetry project, which will invite community members to respond to soul-centric prompts with resulting responses woven into a single poem by a local poet. A collection of the resulting poetry will be published online permanently and offered in print locally.
